Parents should be aware that the school will take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of pupils. In cases where the school has reason to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill-treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse, staff have no alternative but to follow Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Procedures and inform the relevant authorities of their concern.

When a school refers a concern about a pupil, it is not accusing the parents of child abuse but requesting that further investigation takes place to establish whether a child is at risk or not.
