Comic Relief's Red Nose Day
Fri 15 Mar 2024What a fantastic day we have had! The children have enjoyed a range of activities this morning in class and, this afternoon, we had our final of 'Shirland's Got Talent'! We were treated to some fantastic acts and the audience had the best time!
Congratulations to everyone who auditioned and made it to the finale.

Wed 06 Mar 2024Wow! Another incredible performance by our amazing Musical Club last week at David Nieper Academy. Thank you to Mrs Banks, Mrs Harry, Mrs Clark, Mr Smith and Mrs Rosochacki for their support and dedication to ensure this performance could go ahead. The children were just incredible and I was so proud of each and every one of them. Thank you to all of the families who came to watch and support our school. We raised a fantastic amount of money which can now go towards our 2025 production (even though I keep saying I'm not doing it again!) so keep your eyes peeled for the big reveal!

DNA Science Day
Thu 08 Feb 2024Today, 4 children in our Year 5 class were invited to David Nieper Academy to take part in a science enterprise day. We learnt all about take-off and landing different types of aircraft (e.g. hot air balloons, aeroplanes and rockets) and then we had a go at creating our own rocket using recyclable materials. After, we had to design a parachute that would enable the egg to land safely without smashing!
Despite having to leave early due to the snow, we had a fantastic morning.

Violin performance Year 5
Fri 02 Feb 2024Pupils in Epic Elephants (Yr5) enjoyed performing in-front of a packed school hall yesterday for parents and the rest of school. They have been learning violin since September with their two music teachers Jo and Caroline.

Superstars In Our School!
Fri 24 Nov 2023Today, we have celebrated all of the superstars in our school! We are so honoured to have such a fantastic team at Shirland Primary School and we wanted to show our appreciation to each and every one of them.

Art Day at David Nieper Academy
Mon 20 Nov 2023Four Year 5 pupils had the opportunity to take part in an exciting Art Day at David Nieper Academy last Friday. They worked alongside pupils from six other primary schools, creating amazing 3D fish from clay, which they will be able to glaze after they have been fired in the kilns.

Dukes Barn 2023
Wed 13 Sep 2023Some of the children from Year 5 and 6 recently returned from their three day residential trip to Duke's Barn, near Beeley. They had the opportunity to try out some exciting outdoor activities that they've probably never done before including abseiling, canoeing, climbing and stream scrambling.

Robin Hood Performance
Mon 17 Jul 2023Year 5 and 6 gave us a brilliant performance of 'Robin & the Shirland Hoodies' with some amazing singing and acting skills on show! Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a memorable performance.
