We all know that the next few winter months can bring downfalls of snow. We are very proud of the fact that we only close the school as a very last resort. Not only is your child’s education very important to us but I know many of you need to get to work too.
However, should we need to notify you of closure or a delayed start, we will do so using the texting service by 8am (please ensure we have your up to date numbers) as well as through local radio stations and our own website. We also notify the local authority, who then publish a list of closed schools on their website at www.derbyshire.gov.uk. If it snows heavily during the school day, we will usually wait until after lunch to decide whether to close or not as often the situation can improve. However if it continues to snow into the afternoon, you are welcome to use your own discretion as to whether to collect your child (after 1.30pm please), dependent upon travel distances from school.
If school is open, please make every effort to get your child here, even if it means they are a little late. We always say, “Better late than not at all.” Please be reassured that if they come to school with wellingtons and a warm waterproof coat they will get time to play out.
