Do I really need to hear my child read every day?
Will reading aloud help my child to do better at school?
My children sound the words different these days, what's that all about?
How do they teach kids to read these days?
We are planning a Reading Information Evening at school on Thursday 8th May at 5:30 pm
, to which you are warmly invited.
The aims of the evening are to inform you about how reading is taught across the school, what the expectations in reading are for your child’s year group and how you can help your child to improve and enjoy their reading even more. There will be three sessions on early reading and phonics, guided reading, developing reading skills and comprehension for upper KS2. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and to try some of the activities yourself.
At Shirland Primary School, we believe that reading is at the forefront of our pupils’ learning and we value the opportunity to involve parents in supporting their children. We hope that as many of you as is possible will attend the evening and we look forward to welcoming you on May 8th
